The Brede Players Update

E-mail Print PDF

With rehearsals well under way for Day of Reckoning, planning for the Summer School and looking for a suitable script for the Christmas pantomime, The Brede Players are as busy as ever.

Thanks to everyone who attended the AGM in April. All members of the Committee would like to offer huge thanks both to Bobbie Boud, who is standing down as Chair, and Tom Drinkwater who is standing down as a committee member. Without them we wouldn't be where we are today and we are so pleased Bobbie is remaining on the Committee.

Mike Bendell, (who is also ably directing Day of Reckoning) was unanimously sworn in as the new Chair and we look forward to his capable leadership in the future.

Brede Players thrill the local com-MOON-ity

E-mail Print PDF

The Brede Players presented their January show, Many Moons, on the 7th and 8th of this month in Brede Village Hall. The shows were well attended and were also well-received.

This play was different!  The story line - of  half-a-dozen fully-grown adults frantically trying to satisfy the whims of an outrageously spoilt child - does not seem attractive at first sight.  But look again at the authorship - co-written by James Thurber!  James Thurber, the eminent  American critic and satirist – and there lies the clue – this whole play is a satire of all those in authority who, intelligent, extremely well-informed, but totally blinkered, cannot solve a problem that, in this case, yields ultimately to the down-to-earth common-sense of a boy not yet into his teens.
