Diamond Jubilee funding

The Diamond Jubilee Committee is very happy indeed to have been granted £250 from Rother District Council. Brede Parish Council have match funded this with another £250 and together this money will go towards a new, locally crafted Diamond Jubilee commemorative bench on Broad Oak recreation ground, created and designed by Chris Allum of Broad Oak.

We have raised an additional £480 so far from various local groups including The Brede Players, The Red Lion, Dogwood Cottage camping and Brede Farmers Market as well as personal donations from members of the Parish.

All monies raised are going towards publicity for the Jubilee weekend, a flower display on the green over the Jubilee weekend, a Jubilee tree and any money left over will be donated to local charitable causes.

A vacancy has occurred on the Parish Council. No experience is necessary but computer skills welcome. Younger residents of the Parish are under-represented. If you have an interest in how decisions are made affecting everyone in the village then now is your opportunity to get involved.

Read the agenda for the meeting or look at minutes of previous meetings. All members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend - find out what decisions are being taken by the Coucil and ask questions. You can also submit comments in advance about the agenda to the Parish Clerk.

2012 will be a great year for a Great Britain, a fantastic extended weekend of celebrations to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and even the 50 year anniversary of Doctor Who.
